Work with good people

Yesterday, I got a text from @kamillebenthien at 9:15pm asking if I was checked out for the day, or I could assist her in one of the tasks that she was working on for a client. We solved it pretty quickly, and had some time for friendly banter at the same time, hanging up at 9:30. This morning, I got the same text at 7:40am. We had it solved by 8:10. And had time for good mornings and “Have a nice day”s.

I’ve learned a couple of things working the way I’ve been working for the past 6 or 7 years that I want to pass on.

— Work with good people.

I can’t stress this enough. I’m currently working will all of my closest friends, and it’s a blast. It rarely feels like work. And we’ve always got each others’ backs.

— Get to know yourself.

If you’re not the kind of person that works around the clock, then don’t. There’s been an influx in imagined entrepreneurial behaviour in the past couple of years. If you want to check out at 5 every afternoon to do other stuff, do so. There isn’t any greatness in working more than you want to. Just as there is no greatness in doing something you’re not built for doing.

— Rest.

If you’re the kind of person who. likes to work around the clock, do remember to rest. I’ve just recently realised what difference this really makes in my life. But do learn to rest. Not in the way you’re supposed to, but in the way you need to. Binge a series, draw something, watch a documentary or whatever. But have downtime.
