Problem solving?

The all so important dance with words continue.

Apparently, there might be a difference in problem solving and creation of future. I’ve been thinking that when we solve problems, we also create an alternative that might benefit us in the future. I might not have thought them being synonyms, but absolutely intertwined. A friend of mine pointed a crucial difference out in a conversation we had.

She said that problem solving is looking back at things that haven’t worked in the past, picking them out as problems and solving them now. Future creation is to look ahead and see what possible challenges there might be.

That struck me as immensely important, as there seems to be a need for that forward looking in order for us to evolve. If we don’t look ahead at any possible objectives, we won’t be able to tackle them.

Then, the difference between them might be the direction. Solving problems, we look back and creating the future, we look ahead.

I think that’s important to remember as we move in to the future. What do we want to create, and how are we going to do it?
