Don’t be fooled in to believing creativity is some magic kind of superpower that some people were born with. We’ve all got some preconditions to what we might excel at. Some people have higher intelligence, some are taller, and some have nails that are just perfect for peeling oranges. None of the above necessarily means that the person is creative.

Creativity is the ability to combine things. That might be physical things, concepts, thoughts or tones. Anything really. In order to do that, we need to take in elements to combine. That’s the key to creativity.

Some people are better at taking elements in. Some people are better at remembering things. Some people have more energy to read, listen and perceive. But most importantly, the creative people have practiced taking elements in for a long time.

Practice taking elements in, and the combinations will follow.

There are an unlimited amount of elements to take in. Angles on buildings, whole books, movies and documentaries not to mention all of the conversations you can have. Try adding a new one, something seemingly unconnected to what you usually do. I promise you, there’ll be a connection. You just need to find it.

There’s creativity everywhere, in everyone. Find it.
